MCYO
Sinfonia Emerges
Another MCYO
Opportunity Emerges! MCYO’s mission is to nurture, develop and advance
young talented musicians in a quality orchestral program.
The growth of MCYO has been dramatic in the past ten years,
both in numbers of participants and in the quality of each orchestra. It is time
for us to grow again! Next fall (2004) MCYO will add a 5th
orchestra! The new orchestra will be called Sinfonia. Considering
that the Philharmonic, alone, turned down nearly 60 string players last fall, it
is time for us to create another meaningful musical experience for musicians
primarily in the 10th and 11th grades, but not exclusively
limited to those grades. Education is our fundamental purpose and we feel we can
offer additional artistic experiences and opportunities to more talented youth.
The opportunity to take on another fifty string players, set challenging
artistic standards, and have more musicians experience the wonders of music
making in MCYO is our goal. The Sinfonia will be a string
orchestra.
MCYO’s dedicated staff has been assessing the emerging
trends over several years time. We have watched more and more young people
audition, we have thought it wise to help nurture more talent, and now we feel
the time is right for another expansion. Just as the Chamber Strings was formed
ten years ago, the same concerns have surfaced that justify our expanding to
help advance many more talented youth. It is time to grow again!
Next fall, all high school musicians are urged to audition
for MCYO orchestra’s according to the present system. The Sinfonia
will be set up from within that audition format. Conductor’s will recommend
placement and seating for the mutual benefit of the musicians and the
orchestras.
