The Montgomery County Philharmonic Youth Orchestra was selected to perform at the MENC 57th National Biennial In-Service Conference, "Make Music, America" which was held  in Washington DC, on March 8-11, 2000.  MCYO was  among a select few musical organizations nation-wide selected to perform at the conference. More than 200 tapes were submitted for performance consideration. The Philharmonic MCYO performed at noon on Friday,  March 10 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in the Regency Ballroom. The MENC national conference had  thousands of Music Educators from across the country in attendance celebrating all kinds of music-making traditions. The Philharmonic MCYO performed the World Premiere of "Echoes of a Forgotten Dream", a composition commissioned especially for the MENC Conference.
