MCYO DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP:
Official Montgomery County Crossing Guards,
hired by Strathmore, will be on hand every week to direct drop-off and
pick-up of MCYO musicians. They, alone, will be responsible for all traffic
flow and their signals and directions MUST be respectfully followed by all
MCYO families.
Strathmore has well defined policies and procedures regarding parking,
drop-off and pick-up of students, and traffic flow. Parking in the lot by
the Mansion driveway or in front of the Main Entrance is absolutely
prohibited. As renters, MCYO must adhere to these policies. Parking is
available at the meters on Tuckerman Lane or in the Public parking garage,
after purchasing a Smart Card. Avoid parking issues altogether by simply
dropping off and picking up your student at the appropriate time each week,
following the directions below.
Drop-Off
The drop-off for ALL orchestras will be at the drop-off circle at the back
entrance of the Music
Center on Tuckerman Lane. To avoid traffic jams and unnecessary u-turns,
please follow these
important directions: DO NOT ENTER TUCKERMAN LANE FROM 355 AT THE
GROSVENOR METRO intersection because you will NOT be permitted to make a
left turn to enter the Strathmore circle or to stop and let your child out
of the car on the metro side of the street. We cannot have stopped cars
block the traffic flow here. PLEASE DO USE the intersection just south of
the metro stop on 355, which is also Tuckerman Lane. This road winds
around to the Music Center and your drop off point, which will be on the
right. Upon entering the circle, you must drive in, let your musician out
and drive away; no parking, waiting or idling in the circle is permitted.
Crossing Guards will monitor and direct this traffic flow.
Harps: Drop off and Pick-up will be at the Loading Dock behind the
Education Building on
Tuckerman Lane.
Pick-Up
Chamber Strings: pick-up will be at 8:30 pm in the circle.
Young Artists: pick-up will be at 8:45 pm in the circle.
Note: Per Strathmore policy, parking will not be allowed in the
circle. No one will be allowed to enter the circle early to wait for
dismissal. Crossing guards will control the traffic pattern. Symphony:
pick-up will be at 9:00 on Tuckerman Lane, across the street from the
Education Building. Musicians should proceed down to the circle where
crossing guards will guide musicians across the street at the light.
Musicians will turn left and proceed down Tuckerman Lane a short distance to
cars that are lined up on Tuckerman Lane heading East. Crossing Guards will
control the traffic pattern.
Sinfonia: 9:15 pm pick up will take place in Kiss and Ride. Musicians
will leave the rehearsal area through the main lobby and proceed through the
covered walk-way to the Metro garage. Proceed downstairs and over to Kiss
and Ride. Cars will line up in the Kiss and Ride lot, beyond the Tuckerman
Lane driveway.
Philharmonic: 9:30 pm pick-up will be on Tuckerman Lane, across the
street from the Education
Building. Musicians should proceed down to the circle where crossing guards
will guide musicians across the street at the light. Musicians will turn
left and proceed down Tuckerman Lane a short distance to cars that are lined
up on Tuckerman Lane heading East. Crossing Guards will control the traffic
pattern. |
